Released in the twilight of his career and co-directed with his son Lamberto Bava, Shock is a haunting fusion of psychological horror and supernatural terror, with a side of domestic decay and one seriously creepy kid.

Was it a fitting farewell from a director who basically invented half the visual language of horror as we know it? Or a quietly unsettling oddity that still doesn’t get the respect it deserves?
